I mitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and that is never more evident than by traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada. Just by going down the famed Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard), one can see properties inspired by ancient Egypt, New York City, Monte Carlo, ancient Rome and Venice to name a few.
So it was only a matter of time until Macau began to assert its influence with a bar/tavern/lounge called Little Macau. This establishment is located less than a half-mile west of The Strip right in the heart of the Las Vegas Chinatown section on Spring Mountain Road.
Little Macau is a logical extension of Las Vegas’ worldwide view according to Joe Valdes, President of Silver Nugget Gaming. Sin City’s newest hotspot has undergone over two million in renovations from its current location.
“We are the only Asian-themed tavern in Las Vegas,” noted Valdes. “We are capitalizing on the recent Macau curiosity factor by providing a venue that, through its design, will hopefully enlighten customers on Macau’s imagery.”
One thing that makes Little Macau amazing is its interior that features such Macau staples as its patterned cobblestones, colonial columns and arches along with silk fabric near the lights. The cozy atmosphere blends together Macau through the years while also displaying a warmth that makes this hotspot a desirable destination at any time of the day or night.
“The design of Little Macau will portray both the old and traditional aspects of Macau along with Macau’s newest casino resort developments, through wall imagery displays,” said Valdes. “These displays will highlight historical elements, famous landmarks and of course, the old and newest elements of Macau’s architecture.
“We are also importing the famed patterned Macau sidewalk stones to bring some additional authenticity, and have commissioned several art pieces by local artists. In addition, we’ve commissioned several hours of Macau video footage through a local Macau advertising agency to handle these aspects of the interior design.”
Since Macau is such a buzzword right now with its phenomenal gaming advancement and growth, authenticity was strived for in all aspects of Little Macau. To capitalize on the ‘curiosity factor,’ this establishment will have authentic food to blend in with the atmosphere.
The food can best be described as Macanese meets Las Vegas, with a 15-item finger-food menu. Macau beer and its famous Macau Egg Tarts will also be imported, serving its target audience of casino employees and current patrons that frequent the Las Vegas Chinatown area.
“The location is ideal for a social, after-work meeting space for casino employees,” noted Valdes. “There is a tremendous interest in Macau by all gaming-industry employees since the city is routinely featured in newspaper articles and spoken of throughout the Las Vegas gaming community.”
Little Macau features a large, focal-point bar with plasma televisions along with 15 video-poker slot machines. This location will be able to accommodate 150 patrons 24 hours a day who want to do anything from watching the latest sporting event, to people interested in socializing in a relaxing atmosphere or catching a quick bite to eat with its moderate pricing.
“Las Vegas-area taverns are evolving from their initial roots as simply beer pubs, to more sophisticated entertainment, drinking and dining venues,” stated Valdes. “We have 15 slot machines, but we are considering on featuring some Asian-themed slot machines.”
Little Macau is conveniently located at 3939 Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas, just west of I-15 and Las Vegas Boulevard.
