July 25, 2008
LOS ANGELES (AP) -Former Arena Football League star quarterback Pat O'Hara was hired as head coach of the Los Angeles Avengers on Friday, agreeing to terms on a three-year contract.
O'Hara succeeds Ed Hodgkiss, who was fired June 24 after seven seasons on the job.
O'Hara comes to Los Angeles as the fourth head coach in franchise history after three years as offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Storm.
O'Hara played with Orlando, Toronto and Tampa Bay of the AFL before beginning his coaching career. Over the course of six years with Orlando, he completed 682 of 1,196 passes for 9,325 yards and 166 touchdowns, guiding the Predators to two ArenaBowl championships.
