Taylor brothers sweep Grand-Am front row

LEXINGTON, Ohio (AP) - Jordan Taylor won the pole Friday for the Rolex Sports Car Series' event Saturday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and brother Ricky Taylor took the other front-row spot.

Jordan Taylor had a lap of 1 minute, 16.947 seconds, an average speed of 105.642 mph, in the No. 10 Corvette Daytona Prototype he owns to earn his second consecutive Grand-Am pole. After winning the pole two weeks ago at Belle Isle, he teamed with Max Angelelli to win the race.

Jordan Taylor took the top spot late in the 15-minute qualifying session.

``That's probably the last person you want to bump off,'' Jordan Taylor said. ``We're not like those kind of brothers that want to beat each other. I know if I was in his position, I'd be furious.''

Ricky Taylor led the early portion of the session at 105.567 mph before qualifying was stopped when Scott Mayer's No. 8 Ford/Riley stalled on course. When the session restarted, Jordan Taylor took advantage of valuable track position to put in a pole-winning lap while his brother was mired in slower traffic.

``That was a proud moment,'' father Wayne Taylor said. ``One lap, Ricky was on the pole, and then the next lap, Jordan was on the pole. I'm obviously happy to have both of my kids on the front row. This is the first time that's happened.''

Jordan Taylor will again team with Angelelli on Saturday in the event set for 2 hours, 45 minutes on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course. Ricky Taylor will split driving duties with Richard Westbrook in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Racing Corvette DP.

John Edwards topped GT class in a Camaro, and Tom Long led the GX cars in a diesel-powered Mazda.
