The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup continues straight towards the Phoenix 500 as Kevin Harvick attempts to make it three in a row. This season has already spun the wheels and heads of bettors who love this sport, and this weekend’s action will be no exception. Is Harvick peaking too early and does anyone have the chance to catch him?

You can skip straight to the Motor Sports Futures board here.

Kevin Harvick is now coming off of two very crucial wins and it’s safe to say that we’re going to flip the script from last week by encouraging – at the very least – a hedge play on the scorching hot driver. He’s now won in Atlanta and Vegas, and heads to a track where he’s enjoyed incredible success. With three straight wins from 2012-14 and an earlier victory lap in 2006, Harvick is the go-to bet for Phoenix this weekend despite having a steep +250 price tag on his head.

Need more reason to bet on Harvick? He is the track leader with 1,484 laps led and also owns the top rating at Phoenix with 110.2. However, there is a heavy sense that Harvick is “too obvious” of a choice. It’s worth pointing out that the Phoenix 500 favorite hasn’t won in three years and has only led in 11 laps in six races over Richmond, New Hampshire and Phoenix (which are known to be similar).

Weekly hopeful Chase Elliott crashed early in Vegas last week and it might be time to pump the brakes on the sport’s most popular young pilot for now. If you’re going to swinging blindly at the fences, Erik Jones (+1500) and Ryan Blaney (+2000) are trending very well right now for good reason. I’d rather go fishing with Jones and/or Blaney now and reserve Elliott for later in the season when his team starts to figure things out.

As for the pick, we’re going back to the same well we primed up last weekend with Denny Hamlin at +1500 that can reward even the smallest of wagers. If you want to couple that with a more probable favorite and want to fade Harvick, then your guy is Martin Truex Jr. who enters the Phoenix 500 with a great +800 number. You have to lump Harvick in to your wager ticket at this point, but NASCAR bettors know very well that it’s never safe to juice the same lemon twice in a row…let alone in three consecutive weekends.

The Phoenix 500 roars out on to the track this Sunday, March 11th at 3:30pm ET. Get your bets in at early!
