College Football Thursday kickoff
College Football 2010 is finally here and there’s a much better than normal Thursday slate of games. Here’s a look at the top ones from BroburySports.com.

The Thursday schedule also has Ohio State (-28 ½) hosting Marshall and Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina team (-13 ½) welcoming Southern Miss.
Pittsburgh Panthers (+3) at Utah Utes - 8:30 pm ET
Pittsburgh is a somewhat surprising three-point ‘dog as they’re No. 15 in the AP Poll and Utah is just outside the top-25. However, Utah has a 17-game home winning streak which accounts for the spread.
Pittsburgh went 10-3 SU and 8-4 ATS last season. The offense has an untested quarterback in Tino Sunseri, but running back Dion Lewis is one of the best in the country. Look for coach Dave Wannstedt to be very conservative offensively in this game.
Utah also went 10-3 SU last year (6-7 ATS). They made a quarterback change more than halfway through the season, inserting true freshman Jordan Wynn. The spread offense could give Pitt problems, and Utah’s defense should again be solid despite losing the majority of their starters.
USC Trojans (-21 ½) at Hawaii Warriors – 11:00 pm ET
This is a new era for USC football. First there was Pete Carroll leaving for the Seattle Seahawks, just in time to miss a boatload of NCAA sanctions. Lane Kiffin, one of the most hated men in college football, takes over the reigns after leaving Tennessee in the lurch.
USC (9-4 SU, 4-9 ATS last year) used to be known for potent offenses with marquee quarterbacks. Last year’s outfit struggled with freshman Matt Barkley and there are still problems this year. The defense also had some terrible games (55 and 47 points to Stanford and Oregon) but should be much improved with Monte Kiffin as coordinator.
Hawaii went 6-7 SU (6-6 ATS) last year. The run-and-shoot offense is still in effect and it helped rack up the nation’s third-most passing yards. The problem is it only translated into 22.8 PPG (ranked 89th). The defense is no great shakes, but should have enough to keep this close at home.
