The Super Bowl hangover may be in full effect today, but there is still plenty of action in the sports world tonight, including a few good NBA games.
Here’s a quick look at a couple of them:
Chicago (+5) vs. Indiana (-5); Total set at 176
Chicago and Indiana are two of the top three defenses in the NBA and that’s a big reason why we have such a low total here. They’ve met once before this year and that was an 80-76 win for the Pacers in Chicago. Neither team shot better than 38% in that game and only once in the least four meetings have they combined for 180 or more points.
But Indiana has been scoring more lately and has topped the century mark in three of their last four. They have won 12 straight at home and are 5-1 ATS after scoring 100-plus. They likely won’t have to deal with C Joakim Noah and possibly Carlos Boozer as well, so the Pacers should be able to get whatever they want inside. Points may not be as hard to come by as many think, and having these two teams finish in the 90’s definitely isn’t out of the question.
Dallas (+8) vs. Oklahoma City (-8); Total set at 209
At 20-27 SU Dallas hasn’t exactly had the season they were hoping for but they always get up to play OKC. The Mavs are 0-2 SU (2-0 ATS) against the Thunder this year with both losses coming in overtime. Each game finished above tonight’s number of 209 and the Thunder have now won eight straight in this rivalry.
But Dallas is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall, including on a current 9-1 ATS run. They are also 6-0 ATS in their last six away from home and with this being the final game of a four-game trip, Dallas would love to finish it .500. They likely get Dirk Nowitzki back tonight and his scoring is always needed against Durant and company. If he can come up with a big game tonight the Mavs definitely have a shot at the upset.
Finally, the underdog is 9-1 ATS in the last 10 between these two and OKC looked vulnerable in their loss to Cleveland over the weekend. This may be too many points to give this Dallas team that is keeping games tight these days. It might not be another OT contest, but don’t be surprised to see the Mavericks in it until the end.
