Big Monday Betting Preview

West Virginia vs. Kansas State (-11, 126.5)

These two teams are meeting for the 2nd time this year as Kansas State went into West Virginia as small underdogs in early January and came out with a 1-point victory. The Wildcats are laying heavier juice tonight (-11) and after beating up on Baylor over the weekend, K-State is hoping their easy wins can continue.

At 13-12 SU, West Virginia is clearly a step below K-State (20-5) in terms of talent level, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t go into Kansas State tonight and pull off a shocker. This is a West Virginia team that doesn’t mind being counted out and have played that other team from Kansas (Jayhawks) very tough once already this year. We can’t forget about the first matchup between these two being so close as well.

But both of those games were at home for the Mountaineers and they are a decidedly worse team on the road. They are 3-6 SU away from home this year and last time they were on the road they lost by 20 to that same Baylor team K-State beat by that margin (20) over the weekend. West Virginia is 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine road contests against a solid winning team (.600 winning % or better) and are 3-12-2 ATS when coming off a win. The Mountaineers struggled to a 66-64 home win over Texas Tech on Saturday; a game they were favored by 13.5 points.

Kansas State knows they cannot afford to slip up the rest of the way and style points in how they win are almost just as important. Another close game against this mediocre team won’t really help them and after they blew out Baylor over the weekend, their confidence is back after last Monday’s blowout loss to Kansas. The Wildcats should take full advantage of this opportunity and with a 5-1 ATS record in their last six at home, another convincing win should be on tap tonight.

Lay the points with K-State.
