San Antonio vs. L.A. Clippers (-3.5)
Total set at 200.5
The Clippers kick-off their post All-Star break schedule tonight with a home date against a San Antonio team they are 2-0 SU and ATS already this year. The Clippers have beaten the Spurs in this building and on the road and would like to clinch the season series with a win tonight.
It's quite rare for any Western Conference team to beat San Antonio in a season series and those two earlier losses aren't lost on the Spurs. Both came very early in the season and San Antonio didn't shoot better than 41% from the field in either of them. One bad quarter did in the Spurs in both cases and after beating the Kings on Tuesday, San Antonio will be ready for the Clippers tonight.
The Spurs are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 trips to the Staples Center to play the Clippers and are 5-1 ATS in their last six against another winning team. San Antonio sits 4.5 games up on the Clippers in the Western Conference standings and a third loss would kill them in any potential tiebreaking scenarios down the road.
L.A is the only team yet to play out of the All-Star break and that extended rust could hurt them early on tonight. They went into the break on a four-game win streak after demolishing the Lakers exactly a week ago and sometimes that much time off can really disrupt the flow of a team that is going well. L.A. is 1-5 ATS in their last six at home and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 against a team that scored 100 or more last time out. This Spurs team has not forgotten those two earlier losses to the Clippers, so L.A. better be ready for San Antonio's best shot tonight.
San Antonio has only lost three straight ATS twice this year and after failing to cover in their last two contests, that streak will be tested tonight. They have the depth and scoring ability to match the Clippers for the full 48 minutes and will not want to lose a third straight game against this team.
Take the points with San Antonio.
