2013 NFL Rookie Odds
May 18, 2013
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was the 2012 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Griffin was the third consecutive signal caller to pick up the award and sixth in the last nine seasons.
Since this award was created, the first quarterback to win the award was the Buffalo Bills Dennis Shaw in 1970. Prior to Griffin, Cam Newton of Carolina won in 2011 and Sam Bradford of St. Louis captured the hardware in 2010.
Sportsbook.ag only has three quarterbacks listed as contenders this season, with the Jets QB Geno Smith (10/1) leading the way.
Running backs have won this award 30 out of the 44 seasons it has been presented. However, the last running back to win the ROY was the Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson in 2007.
The favorite is St. Louis wide receiver Tavon Austin at 3/1 odds.
A pair of tight ends in Tyler Eifert (8/1) and Zach Ertz (10/1) are also listed at the top of the betting numbers and that should come as a surprise since a tight end has never garnered the honors.
