After his three stroke win to capture the Buick Open two weeks ago, Tiger Woods became only the seventh player to win 50 PGA Tour Titles. Odds makers at Sportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino, see no sign of Woods slowing down as he enters this year’s 88th PGA Championship at the top of his game.
Woods, who is a 2-1 favorite to hoist the Wanamaker trophy at the last major of the season at Medinah Country Club this weekend, will be trying for his 12th major championship and move one step closer to Jack Nicklaus’s record of 18. Woods is no stranger to the Illinois country club, as he won the last championship at Medinah in 1999.
Phil Mickelson, an 8-1 bet for event, will attempt to stifle Woods’ resurgence. He will be defending his PGA Championship title, where he dominated the field at the Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey. Also in contention to win the last major of the season is Ernie Els (12-1) and Vijay Singh (15-1).
“Tiger is back to his championship form since his return from a nine week break from play,” said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. “The
breakdown he experienced at the U.S. Open is clearly behind him, and with two wins under his belt at the British Open and Buick Open, he is poised to add a fifth win to this season. Everybody bets on golf, and with this being the last major of the season we are already booking in record numbers.”
