BCS odds heat up
May 13, 2008
By Sportsbook.com
The Bowl Championship Series heads to Dolphin Stadium on Jan. 8, 2009 as two schools will meet on the gridiron for the National Championship game.
Last year, LSU became the second straight SEC school to capture the crown by defeating Ohio State 38-24 in the title game from the Louisiana Superdome. The Buckeyes loss in the championship was their second straight setback for head coach Jim Tressel in the big game.
Since the BCS began in 1998, no school has been able to repeat as champions. LSU is listed as a 12/1 choice to repeat the feat and is the third choice from the SEC, which has Florida (6/1) and Georgia (7/1) listed above.
The school garnering the most action this summer is Southern California (3/1). The Trojans do own an impressive 5-1 run in BCS bowl games, which includes a 1-1 record in championship games.
