LSU (+7.5) vs. Alabama – 3:30 pm ET
These two SEC combatants have even more history together with Nick Saban having coached both teams. Note the road team is 11-1-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings.
No. 9 LSU (7-1 SU, 4-4 ATS) is just 1-2 ATS on the road this year. They were fortunate to get the one road ‘cover’ at Georgia. LSU’s offense is ranked 99th in the country and Alabama may be the best defense in the land. That’s why the Over/Under is just 40 points.
No. 3 Alabama (8-0 SU, 5-3 ATS) got jumped by Texas in the BCS rankings, but it doesn’t really matter. If Alabama runs the table, including the SEC title game, they’ll play for the national championship. The Crimson Tide have failed to cover the last two weeks at home (Tennessee, South Carolina) and they need a turnaround game this Saturday.
Ohio State (+5) at Penn State – 3:30 pm ET
The road team covered the last two years in this Big Ten matchup. The home team was 9-0 ATS before that.
Ohio State (7-2 SU, 7-2 ATS) is ranked 16th in the BCS after beating New Mexico State and Minnesota by a combined score of 83-7 the last two weeks. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor has started to play a lot better after hitting a mid-season slump. The question for the Buckeyes is how will they fare on the road after losing at Purdue last time around?
No. 11 Penn State (8-1 SU, 5-4 ATS) still has its slim national title hopes alive, and they’ve also been playing better the last few weeks. The Nittany Lions have five straight ‘covers’ after starting the season at 0-4 ATS. PSU already lost at home to Iowa earlier in the season and another home defeat would be hard for fans to swallow.
Oklahoma (-4.5) at Nebraska – 8 pm ET
This is one of the most historic rivalries in all of college football. Oklahoma is 3-0 SU and ATS in the last three meetings.
No. 24 Oklahoma is 5-3 SU and 3-4-1 ATS. They have lost quarterback Sam Bradford for the season. Quarterback Landry Jones continues to put up big numbers, but the passing defense has struggled more than expected, ranking just 37th in the nation. Note the Sooners are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine road games.
Unranked Nebraska (5-3 SU, 5-3 ATS) always has this game circled on its calendar, especially at home. The Cornhuskers started out 5-0 ATS, but are 0-3 ATS since (losing home games outright to Iowa State and Texas Tech). Freshman quarterback Cody Green replaced Zac Lee last week against Baylor and he should start again.
