The Cleveland Browns will have a new quarterback (again) when they host the Baltimore Ravens on MNF at BroburySports.com.
Baltimore is a big 11-point road favorite at BroburySports.com with an Over/Under of 39 points. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:30 pm ET.
Cleveland might be the worst team in the league at 1-7 straight-up (SU) and 3-5 ATS. The players seem to severely dislike coach Eric Mangini and all indications are that he’ll be gone at the end of the season.
Amidst all this action is a quarterback controversy. Brady Quinn started the first three games and has one touchdown versus three interceptions on the year. His quarterback rating is 62.1. Quinn will get the start the rest of the year over Derek Anderson, so he shouldn’t be looking over his shoulder too much.
The running back situation is very interesting. Jamal Lewis just criticized Mangini publicly and now Lewis is facing his former Ravens team.
Baltimore’s defense is 7th in the league against the rush (94.9 YPG), putting the pressure squarely on Quinn and the passing game. That could be a train wreck unless he’s careful with the ball. Cleveland may be forced to use ‘The Wildcat’ offense more with Josh Cribbs.
Note the home team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between the teams. Baltimore has covered the last three with Cleveland covering the five before that.
Ravens have hit a big speedbump
Baltimore (4-4 SU, 5-3 ATS) started out 3-0 SU and ATS and looked like one of the better teams in the NFL. That has turned into a 1-4 SU record the last five games, including a 17-7 loss at AFC North rival Cincinnati last week.
Quarterback Joe Flacco has been very up-and-down despite a 90.2 quarterback rating. He has been held to under 200 yards passing three out of the last four weeks. Against Cincy, Flacco struggled at 18-32 for 195 yards and two interceptions.
Baltimore also didn’t run the ball last week, gaining just 55 yards. They will try to get Ray Rice untracked early, and he’s capable of running up the middle or around the corner.
Note that Baltimore is 8-0 ATS recently against teams with losing records. However, they are just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games as a road favorite.
