Baseball bettors have been sharpening their pencils and taking their shots at the 2010 baseball future odds .

New York Yankees:
The New York Yankees are perennial favorites to capture the American League pennant and after winning the World Series last season, it’s no surprise that they are once again favored to capture the pennant again in 2010.

However, the Yanks will have a big distraction this season.

As it stands, star shortstop Derek Jeter is going into the final year of his deal with the Pinstripes and you can bet it will continue to be a distraction until the situation with is resolved.

“I was a Yankees fan growing up. This is where I want to be,” Jeter told the media as he was prepping for Spring Training in Tampa, Florida.

“I've never envisioned myself playing anywhere else, and hopefully I don't have to.”

It’s doubtful that the Yanks would allow Jeter to leave but then again, former Boston Red Sox player Johnny Damon said he would never sign with the Yankees and he did.

The Bronx Bombers are currently listed as the odds-on at +150 to represent the AL in this season’s World Series.

At this point, players at SPORTSBETTING.com have 26% of their action on the Yankees to win the American League.

Boston Red Sox:
Speaking of the Red Sox, the Yankees’ division and eternal rivals are also one of the annual favorites to capture the pennant.

Boston made a number of additions to its roster this offseason and amongst the new Red Sox, former Angels pitcher John Lackey, veteran outfielder Mike Cameron and former Seattle Mariners 3B Adrian Beltre.

The BoSox are listed at +300 to take the American League this season.

The BoSox have 21% of the action to win the AL.

Minnesota Twins:
The 2009 Minnesota Twins won the AL Central division last minute last season, squeaking into the playoffs in the process.

While 2006 AL MVP Justin Morneau missed a bulk of the season with a stress fracture in his back, catcher Joe Mauer stepped up and took the league MVP honor last season.

It should be noted that Mauer, like Jeter, is seeking a new deal.

Designated hitter Jim Thome and second baseman Orlando Hudson are amongst the new faces in the Twins’ lineup and Minnesota is listed at +1200 to take the American League pennant.

Seattle Mariners:
The Seattle Mariners have made a number of moves this offseason and amongst the new talent donning Seattle jerseys, pitcher Cliff Lee, who was a driving force behind the Philadelphia Phillies run to the World Series last playoffs.

However, Lee had surgery on his left foot close to a month ago and there were some doubts to what his status for the start of the season would be.

Happily for people who plan to wager on the Mariners this season, the AP reports that Lee went through a full bullpen session recently and experienced no foot troubles.

“I feel good. The foot's fine. The body feels good, so now I need to get in shape and get off the mound more and catch up with everyone else,” Lee is quoted as saying.

Lee will play a major factor in Seattle’s rotation this year and who the pitchers go, the Mariners will go.

The M’s are also +1200 to take the AL pennant this season.

Baseball is upon us.

Have a great week.
