SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) - Darren Moore scored 25 points and UC Irvine defeated Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo 65-53 Saturday night.
Moore was 11 for 11 from the free-throw line and pulled down eight rebounds as the Anteaters (8-10, 2-3) snapped Cal Poly's three-game winning streak in the Big West Conference.
Eric Wise had 13 points and 12 rebounds for UC Irvine and Mike Wilder contributed 11 points. The Anteaters took an 18-16 lead with 5:27 left in the first half and never trailed after that, opening up a 14-point lead in the second half.
Will Donahue had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs (7-9, 3-2) while David Hanson had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Shawn Lewis scored 12 points for Cal Poly.
Both teams struggled in outside shooting. UC Irvine made just 28 percent from the field and Cal Poly finished at 31 percent.
