LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Larry Anderson scored 22 points and Casper Ware added 21 as Long Beach State defeated UC Irvine 86-78 on Saturday.
Both players keyed a 14-2 run during a 4:17 second-half stretch in which the 49ers (9-8, 4-0 Big West) turned a five-point deficit into a 69-62 advantage. Anderson had three baskets and Ware two 3-pointers - the second gave Long Beach State the lead for good, 63-62, with 9:34 remaining - during the surge.
Darren Moore scored 23 points and Patrick Rembert added 18 for the Anteaters (7-9, 1-2).
Eugene Phelps had 13 points and T.J. Robinson 12 points and 14 rebounds for the 49ers.
