IRVINE, Calif. (AP) - Mike Wilder grabbed a double-double, scoring 24 points and pulling down 13 rebounds, to lead UC Irvine over Long Beach State 86-76 on Saturday night.
The Anteaters (10-10, 3-3 Big West) took the lead for good midway through the second half when Eric Wise put in a layup to make it 51-49.
Wilder later gave UC Irvine its largest lead, 73-62, with just less than five minutes remaining when he made a pair of free throws after pulling down a defensive rebound and getting fouled.
Wise and Darren Moore each chipped in with 21 points for the Anteaters.
Greg Plater scored 18 points to lead four players in double digits for the 49ers (11-10, 6-2). Eugene Phelps and Casper Ware each added 17 points for Long Beach State while T.J. Robinson scored 17.
Phelps and Robinson both got double-doubles with 11 rebounds each.
