RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Greg Plater scored 24 points and Long Beach State won its ninth game in a row, defeating UC Riverside 82-76 on Wednesday night.
T.J. Robinson had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the 49ers (20-10, 14-2), champions of the Big West, finished their regular season. They're the top seed in next week's Big West tournament.
Casper Ware added 17 points, making 12 of 14 free throws, and Larry Anderson scored 10 points. Long Beach State never trailed and led by as many as 19 points, but had to hold on down the stretch.
Kareem Nitoto led UC Riverside (10-18, 5-10) with 23 points. Kevin Bradshaw and Phil Martin added 13 points each.
The Highlanders still qualify for the Big West tournament by beating UC Irvine on Saturday, or if UC Davis loses one of its two remaining conference games.
