NEW YORK (AP) - Galal Cancer scored 19 points and Cornell staved off late-charging Columbia for a 66-63 Ivy League victory Saturday night.
The win was Cornell's fourth straight on the road, marking the program's longest road winning streak since 2009-10. The Big Red (9-10, 1-1) were 5-24 away from home during coach Bill Courtney's first two seasons, but are 4-5 on the road this year.
Brian Barbour led the Lions (9-7, 1-1) with 15 points.
Cornell's win was retribution for a 67-58 home loss against Columbia on Jan. 19.
The Big Red led 31-19 at the intermission and 51-36 with 10:02 remaining. But Columbia responded with a 22-11 run capped by 3-pointers from Barbour and Maodo Lo to pull within 62-60 with 2:48 left.
Cancer knocked down four free throws after that, and Columbia hit just one of its final five shots - a three-point play by Barbour - as Cornell held on.
