KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Matt Stainbrook scored 17 points and Nate Hutcheson had 16 as Western Michigan defeated Eastern Michigan 65-48 Sunday.
Demetrius Ward added 10 points for the Broncos (9-7, 2-1 Mid-American), who held the Eagles to their lowest point total of the season.
Derek Thompson led Eastern Michigan (4-12, 1-2) with 17 points.
Down 30-29 with 17:49 remaining, Western Michigan held the Eagles without a field goal for nearly nine minutes while putting together a 15-2 run. The Broncos led by at least 11 the rest of the way and pushed their lead to as much as 22.
Western Michigan took a 27-21 lead into halftime, outrebounded the Eagles 46-30 and outscored them from the foul line 18-6.
