STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Drew Spradlin scored 16 points and Elon rallied in the second half to defeat Georgia Southern 72-57 on Saturday night.
The Phoenix (13-16, 7-11 Southern Conference) trailed only 32-29 at halftime, despite Georgia Southern's 14-of-21 shooting (66.7 percent) while they made 10 of 24 shots (41.7 percent). Elon caught fire in the second half, making 13 of 20 shots, scoring 43 points and taking advantage of Georgia Southern's 22 turnovers, which led to 26 Elon points.
Elon also got Lucas Troutman's 14 points and 12 from Chris Long, and now will begin preparing for its conference tournament opener against The Citadel on Friday. Georgia Southern (5-26, 1-17), which avoided a winless conference season by beating The Citadel on Feb. 19, will play Appalachian State on Friday.
Eric Ferguson led the Eagles with 16 points.
