MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -Anthony Johnson sank a foul-line jumper with 6 seconds left as Montana escaped with a 59-56 victory over Fresno State on Monday night.
Montana had taken its first lead since the start of the game on two free throws by Derek Selvig with 2:47 remaining. Selvig followed that with a jumper for a three-point lead.
Sylvester Seay went 2-for-2 from the line with 41 seconds left to bring the Bulldogs within one, setting up the jumper by Johnson, who finished with 11 points.
Fresno State's Steven Shepp missed a deep 3-pointer for the tie at the buzzer.
Paul George of the Bulldogs (6-6) led all scorers with 28 points.
Freshman Will Cherry scored nine of his 11 points in the second half for the Grizzlies (9-4). Montana's bench outscored the Bulldogs' 23-2.
The Bulldogs led 45-35 with 11:46 left. Montana closed on a 24-11 run.
