RTIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) - George Beamon scored 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field to lead Manhattan to a 67-56 victory against Hofstra on Wednesday.
Beamon missed the first two games for the Jaspers (1-2) with an ankle injury.
Rhamel Brown had 15 points and Michael Alvarado 12 for Manhattan.
Taran Buie scored 22 points for Hofstra (3-3), making 10 of 13 from the free-throw line, and Jimmy Hall had 12. The rest of the Pride shot 5 of 16 from the line.
Manhattan led 15-2 only 3:35 into the game, but the Pride clawed their way back to close to 29-28 at the half.
Beamon's three-point play gave Manhattan a 44-34 advantage 6:17 in the second half, Hofstra closed to 47-43 with 8:46 left, but a pair of 3-pointers by Alvarado pushed the cushion back to 10 points, and the Jaspers held on for the victory.
