EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Randy Culpepper scored 33 points, just one shy of his season best, to lead UTEP over Houston 76-64 on Saturday night.
Culpepper made 9 of 13 from the field, including three of his team's four 3-pointers. He also hit all 12 of his free-throw tries.
The Miners (20-6, 8-3 Conference USA) never trailed and were ahead by as many as 14 points late in the second half.
Alandise Harris led the Cougars (12-13, 4-8) with 18 points while Maurice McNeil added 13 and Zamal Nixon 11.
Claude Britten chipped in with 14 points for UTEP.
