DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -Trey Hampton scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Georgia State pulled away to a 57-33 victory over Howard on Saturday.
Joe Dukes added 10 points for the Panthers (2-2), including two layups during a 15-4 run in the second half of the Glenn Wilkes Classic Georgia State led by as many as 25 points and set a school record for fewest points allowed in a game.
Eight of Hampton?s rebounds came on the offensive end. The Panthers totaled 16 offensive rebounds and finished with a 44-27 advantage on the boards over the Bison (0-4), who shot only 25.6 percent from the floor for the game and had no one who scored more than six points.
Despite going scoreless for a stretch of more than 7 minutes, the Panthers led 20-13 at halftime. Howard had just one field goal and two free throws over the final 10 minutes of the half.
