SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Duro Bjegovic scored 18 points and Sacramento State used a 17-0 run near the outset of the game to defeat Idaho State 74-63 Thursday night.
Trailing 2-0 early, the Hornets (5-15, 2-7 Big Sky) held the Bengals (6-14, 2-6) scoreless for nearly nine minutes to take a 17-2 lead on Heath Hoffman's 3-pointer with 9:11 left in the first half.
Hoffman had 16 points for Sacramento State, which was on top 31-17 at halftime and led by as many as 18 points in the second half. John Dickson added 14 points for the Hornets, while Sultan Toles-Bey had 11 points and nine assists.
Kenny McGowan led Idaho State with 17 points. Broderick Gilchrest added 14 points, and Abner Moreira had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bengals pulled within 61-55 on McGowan's layup with 2:28 remaining, but Sacramento State hit 13 straight free throws in the final minute to clinch the victory.
