OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Doug McDermott scored 25 points and Creighton used an early scoring burst to take control in its 83-69 win over Indiana State on Saturday.
The Bluejays (14-9, 6-5 Missouri Valley) rocketed to a 23-8 lead in the first eight minutes.
The Sycamores (12-10, 7-4) answered the barrage with a 10-0 run, but they couldn't catch up.
Creighton never trailed and went on to lead by as many as 19 points in the second half.
Antoine Young finished with 19 points for the Bluejays while Josh Jones added 11.
McDermott made 7 of 11 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line for Creighton.
Jake Odum led Indiana State with 22 points, including going 10 for 13 from the free-throw line. Dwayne Lathan added 16 points for the Sycamores.
