HOUSTON (AP) - Lawrence Johnson-Danner scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Texas Southern to a 66-62 win over Jackson State on Saturday.
Texas Southern (6-9, 4-0 Southwestern Athletic) took their largest lead, 33-21, early in the second half after pulling ahead on 50 percent shooting from the field in the first.
Jackson State (8-9, 4-1), having shot just 36 percent from the field before intermission, recovered in the second half with 43.8 percent shooting to lead by a point, 61-60, with 1:48 to go.
Daniel King made a three-point play to give Texas Southern the lead for good 20 seconds later and Jackson State only scored on a free throw down the stretch.
Grant Maxey scored a game-high 30 points and Jenirro Bush added 12 for Jackson State.
Kevin Galloway finished with 14 points for Texas Southern while Harrison Smith scored 13 and Travele Jones 12.
