YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Walt Gibler scored 18 points and Ben Avercamp matched his career-high with 17 as hot-shooting Loyola of Chicago routed Youngstown State 83-53 on Saturday for its first Horizon League win of the season.
The Ramblers (10-5, 1-3) shot a season-high 60.9 percent from the field (28 of 46) just two days after hitting only 37.5 percent (18 of 48) in a 73-55 loss at Cleveland State.
Loyola also snapped a six-game losing streak in regular-season Horizon League action.
The Ramblers, who came in having lost three of their last four games, jumped out to a 26-9 lead at the 6:59 mark and led 40-22 at halftime.
Geoff McCammon, who was 3 of 8 from long range, added 11 points.
DuShawn Brooks scored 13 points and Damian Eargle had 10 for the Penguins (6-7, 1-3), who shot only 31.5 percent (17 of 54) from the field and 65.2 percent (15 of 23) from the line.
