RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Kenneth Faried had 23 points and 15 rebounds and Demonte Harper added 21 points and 11 boards as Morehead State outlasted Eastern Kentucky 76-68 in overtime Wednesday night to win its eighth straight.
The Eagles (20-8, 12-4 Ohio Valley Conference) dominated the extra period 14-6, with Faried and Harper each scoring four points, to secure one of the four first-round byes in the OVC Tournament.
Morehead State's last defeat was a 59-49 loss to the Colonels on Jan. 22.
Eastern Kentucky, which saw its three-game winning streak snapped, was outrebounded 42-22.
After the Eagles led 28-27 at halftime, the Colonels built an eight-point lead and still led 62-57 with 2:07 to go in regulation.
Harper hit a 3-pointer, followed by a layup with 2 seconds left, but missed the ensuing free throw to force overtime.
Joshua Jones scored 24 to pace Eastern Kentucky (15-12, 9-7).
