SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Devon Beitzel scored 25 points and Elliott Lloyd added 18 points to lead Northern Colorado to a 77-72 victory over Sacramento State on Thursday night.
Beitzel was 8 for 13 from the field, and the two top scorers combined to go 12 for 12 from the free-throw line for the Bears (10-7, 6-0), who stayed in the lead in the Big Sky Conference.
Sacramento State (3-15) fell to 0-7 in the conference, but managed to make it a game against Northern Colorado. Sultan Toles-Bey led the Hornets with 25 points, going 5 for 10 from behind the 3-point line. John Dickson added 18 points and Heath Hoffman scored 11 points for Sacramento State.
Toles-Bey's 3-pointer with 14 seconds left cut the Bears' lead to 75-72, but Lloyd made a pair of free throws to seal the win. Lloyd and Beitzel each made all six of their free-throw tries.
