DENVER (AP) - Nemanja Mitrovic scored 18 points, including two of his five 3-pointers in the closing minutes, and Portland held off Denver for a 71-64 win on Saturday night.
Jared Stohl added 16 points and Luke Sikma had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Portland (8-3), rebounding from a loss to No. 21 Washington to win for the fourth time in five games. It was Portland's fifth straight win against Denver (2-8).
Chase Hallam led the Pioneers with 24 points. Andrew Hooper and Travis Hallam added 11 points apiece for Denver, which lost for the fourth time in five games.
After Chase Hallam made a driving layup to pull Denver within 55-44 with 6:54 remaining, Portland asserted itself. Sikma scored in succession with a layup and by putting in an offensive rebound. After Hooper banked in a shot for Denver, Mitrovic drained a pair of 3-pointers, and Sikma added a free throw for a 66-56 lead with 2:35 remaining.
