Recap: Portland , San Diego
Date: February 24, 2011 11:00 PM EDT

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Jared Stohl scored 18 points, including six straight in a 26-second span late in the second half, to lift Portland to a 65-61 win over San Diego on Thursday night.

Portland (20-9, 7-6 West Coast) had just tied the score at 56-all when Stohl went on his tear. The 6-foot-2 guard scored on a fastbreak layup, then added two free throws when San Diego's Chris Gabriel was called for a technical foul. Stohl finished the run with a steal and a jumper to put the Pilots ahead 62-56 with 2 1/2 minutes left.

The Pilots, who trailed 29-24 at halftime, used a 15-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 39-31 lead. But San Diego (6-22, 2-11) came back and took its final lead on Darian Norris' basket with 3:47 left at 56-54.

Norris, Devin Ginty and Matt Dorr scored 11 points apiece for the Toreros, who were coming off a 74-66 upset of league-leading Saint Mary's last week.
