NEW YORK (AP) - Marvin Dominique made two free throws with 1:31 left and Fordham overcame a 21-point second half deficit to beat St. John's 84-81 on Saturday night.
Fordham (5-4) trailed 60-39 with 16:12 to play. But the Rams used a 15-3 run midway through the second half, capped by Chris Gaston's layup with 6:08 left, to give Fordham a 74-73 lead.
St. John's regained the lead at 81-80 on free throws by Paris Horne with 1:38 left. But the Red Storm (5-3) would score no more, as Dominique answered with two free throws and Brenton Butler added more cushion with a jumper to give Fordham the win.
Butler, who went 5 of 9 beyond the arc, led the Rams with 22 points. Alberto Estwick scored 20 points, Branden Frazier had 16 points and Gaston added a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Dwight Hardy finished with 30 points and three steals for St. John's.
