AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Anthony Gurley scored 22 points and Massachusetts allowed its second-lowest points of the season in a 69-51 win over Saint Joseph's on Wednesday night.
The Minutemen (15-11, 2-11 Atlantic 10 Conference) held the Hawks (7-20, 2-11) without a field goal in the first 11:31 of the game. Saint Joseph's went 0-13 from the field during that time as UMass took a 20-4 lead.
The Hawks shot 30.8 percent from the field for the game (16 of 52).
The only other Minutemen opponent to score fewer points this season against them was TCU, which lost 67-48 on Nov. 22.
Leading 34-15 at halftime UMass extended its lead to as many as 26 points, 47-21, on Vinson's tip-in with 15:58 left.
Sampson Carter added 10 points for the Minutemen.
Idris Hilliard scored 10 points to lead Saint Joseph's, which fell one game behind Charlotte for the 12th and final spot in the A-10 tournament.
