SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Mickey McConnell led three Saint Mary's players in double figures with 19 points and the Gaels rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to beat San Jose State 78-71 on Monday night.
Wayne Hunter added 16 points, including consecutive 3-pointers that put Saint Mary's (5-1) ahead to stay with 8:34 remaining. Omar Samhan had 12 points.
C.J. Webster scored 18 points to lead the Spartans (2-3), who lost for the third time in four games. Chris Oakes had 14 points and Mac Peterson 10.
Saint Mary's, playing its first road game, trailed 48-33 at halftime but opened the second half on a 21-4 run to take its first lead on a Matthew Dellavedova 3-pointer.
The Spartans briefly regained the lead just ahead of Hunter's long-range sharpshooting.
