NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) - Kevin Foster scored all 22 of his points in the second half Wednesday night as Santa Clara defeated Cal State Northridge 99-79 in a rare matchup between the two California schools.
Foster, who played only seven minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, was 9 for 12 from the field. Evan Roquemore added 16 points for the Broncos (7-6), Raymond Cowels III had 13, Marc Trasolini 12 and Chris Cunningham and Ben Dowdell 10 each.
Rashaun McLemore had 21 points and Lenny Daniel 17 for Northridge (3-8).
It was only the second meeting between the two schools, and the first since 1979 when Santa Clara won 83-70.
Northridge kept it close in the first half, trailing 39-36 at the break, and was still within 45-44 with 17:14 left in the game. But a basket by Foster started an 11-0 run for Santa Clara, which kept the lead in double digits the rest of the way.
