DENTON, Texas (AP) - Tristan Thompson scored 18 points and North Texas defeated South Alabama 82-79 on Thursday night.
Thompson, who has scored in double figures in 22 of North Texas' 25 games, also had six rebounds for the Mean Green (17-8, 6-6 Sun Belt). They trailed by eight points early in the second half but held their biggest lead of six points with 23 seconds left.
George Odufwa had 12 points and 10 rebounds for North Texas, which stopped a four-game losing streak. Dominique Johnson scored 14 points and Josh White had 13 points for the winners.
Augustine Rubit led South Alabama (10-14, 4-9) with 17 points. Martino Brock added 14 points, Javier Carter scored 13 and Allyn Cooks 12 points for the Jaguars.
