MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Jewuan Long scored 15 points to lead a balanced Murray State attack and the Racers buried Southeast Missouri State early on the way to a 96-58 rout Saturday night.
The Racers (13-6, 6-3 Ohio Valley Conference) led from start to finish, needing less than 10 minutes to build a 25-point lead. Ivan Aska added 14 points, Ed Daniel had 13 and Isaiah Canaan contributed 11 as Murray State won for the ninth time in 11 games.
Southeast Missouri State (5-15, 4-6) shot only 34.6 percent from the field (18 of 52), 58.1 percent from the line (18 of 31) and trailed by 41 points in the waning minutes. Marland Smith led the Redhawks with 27 points and Leon Powell added 17, but the weight of 23 turnovers - which led to 31 Murray State points - was too much to overcome.
Murray State, which shot 47.1 percent (32 of 68), got a huge lift from its reserves, who outscored the Redhawks' bench 52-4.
