LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Desmar Jackson scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Southern Illinois defeated Nicholls State 65-53 in the World Vision Basketball Challenge at Utah State.

Jeff Early also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Southern Illinois (7-3), which had a 42-29 advantage on the glass. Dantiel Daniels chipped in with 13 points.

Fred Hunter scored 14 points to lead Nicholls State (1-7) and Dantrell Thomas scored 13 points along with dishing out six assists.

Southern Illinois had a 20-4 advantage in second-chance points and a 42-18 edge in scoring in the paint.

Nicholls State shot just 36.2 percent from the floor for the game.
