MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) - Robert Covington had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Tennessee State held off a Tennessee-Martin rally to win 67-64 on Saturday night.
The Tigers led 63-54 after a 3-pointer by Will Peters with 5:25 to play, but did not make a field goal the rest of the way. The Skyhawks cut the lead to 63-62 with 2:01 to play, but the Tigers made four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
With Tennessee State leading 65-64, Peters made a steal with 7 seconds remaining and was fouled. He made both free throws to ice the game.
Kenny Moore added 15 points and Patrick Miller had 11 for the Tigers (7-9, 4-2 Ohio Valley Conference), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Reuben Clayton led the Skyhawks (4-12, 0-5) with 14 points, Andres Irarrazabal added 12 and Mike Liabo 11. It was the 10th straight conference loss for the Skyhawks.
