CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Cameron Wells scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half as The Citadel rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to beat Western Carolina 70-62 Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (10-20, 6-11 Southern Conference) shot 61.5 percent (16 of 26) in the second half to end Western Carolina's seven-game winning streak with their second win this season over the Catamounts (16-14, 11-6).
When The Citadel beat Western Carolina 68-46 on Jan. 22, the Bulldogs led 43-15 at halftime.
This time, the Catamounts led 37-20 after shooting 68.2 percent (15 of 22) in the first half, but they slumped to 23.7 percent (9 of 38) in the second.
Western Carolina led 57-51 with 5:28 left, but The Citadel scored the next 15 points, seven by Wells, to lead 66-57 with 0:49 left.
Mike Groselle and Bryan Streeter had 15 points each for The Citadel.
Mike Williams scored 20 for Western Carolina.
