KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Demetrius Ward made four 3-pointers and finished with 19 points to lift Western Michigan over Toledo 68-56 on Wednesday night.
The Broncos (16-11, 8-5 Mid-American) led the whole way and were ahead by as many as 38 points in the first half after shooting 65.4 percent from the field.
The Rockets (4-24, 1-12) were kept to just 16 points before the break on 23.8 percent shooting.
Toledo tried to charge back in the second half, outscoring the Broncos 40-23, but they couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Juwan Howard Jr. added 14 points for Western Michigan while Flenard Whitfield scored 11.
Hayden Humes scored 13, Anthony Wright 11, Zack Leahy 11 and Delino Dear 10 for Toledo.
The Broncos remain tied with Ball State atop the conference's West Division.
