ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -A.J. Rompza tallied 13 points, five rebounds, six assists and five steals to lead Central Florida to a 77-58 victory over Rice on Saturday.
Keith Clanton scored 17 points for the Knights (9-6, 1-0 Conference USA) and Marcus Jordan, Michael Jordan's son, scored five in his first collegiate start.
The Knights, who snapped a two-game losing streak, led by as many as 21 points in the second half.
After the Owls (6-9, 0-2) took a 19-10 lead on a 9-2 run, UCF outscored Rice 23-5 in a 6-minute span. The spurt included 15 unanswered points, giving the Knights a 31-21 lead with just less than 2 minutes remaining in the first half.
The Knights outscored Rice 36-12 off the bench, but were outrebounded 35-28.
Tamir Jackson scored 17 points, and Trey Stanton 14 as the Owls lost their third straight and their fifth out of six.
