HOUSTON (AP) - Lucas Kuipers scored 15 points to lead four Rice players in double digits as part of a 72-57 victory over Houston on Saturday in the final regular-season game for both teams.
The Owls (13-17, 5-11 Conference USA) took control early. They were up 40-27 at halftime and led by as many as 17 points late in the second half.
With the win, the Owls earned the No. 10 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
Arsalan Kazemi and Tamir Jackson each added 13 points and Connor Frizzelle 12 for Rice.
Zamal Nixon led the Cougars (12-17, 4-12) with a game-high 18 points while Alandise Harris and Darian Thibodeaux each added 12.
The Owls grabbed the advantage on rebounds 35-29.
