BALTIMORE (AP) - Dave Coley scored a game-high 17 points and Stony Brook never trailed in defeating Maryland-Baltimore County 67-60 Wednesday night in an America East Conference game.
The Seawolves (14-5, 5-1), who also got double-figure scoring from Tommy Brenton (12 points) and Carson Puriefoy (10), led 33-26 at halftime and by as many as 15 points in the second half.
UMBC (4-15, 2-4) got double-figure scoring from Ryan Cook (14 points, including three treys) and 11 points each by Chase Plummer, Brett Roseboro and Quentin Jones.
Stony Brook had a huge, decisive edge at the free-throw line. The Seawolves were 20 for 26 from the stripe, while UMBC took just 7 free throws, hitting 5 of 7.
Stony Brook's 5-of-11 3-point shooting included two treys apiece by Puriefoy and Coley, who also grabbed eight rebounds. The Seawolves had a 42-34 rebounding advantage.
