Colorado State in Top 25 after 59 years
February 11, 2013
By The Associated Press
The Colorado State Rams have cracked The Associated Press men's basketball poll for the first time since 1954.
The Rams (19-4, 6-2 Mountain West) are ranked 24th after stretching their home-court winning streak to 26 games under first-year coach Larry Eustachy.
Only Syracuse (37) and South Dakota State (27) boast longer home winning streaks.
Eustachy said Monday that cracking the Top 25 was exciting for the program but noted that the Rams have two tough games this week and can't get caught up in the national recognition.
The Rams face preseason favorite San Diego State (18-5, 6-3) Wednesday night in their first game as a ranked team since March of 1954, when they were ranked 19th. They travel to Air Force next weekend.
