SDSU has three changes on coaching staff
September 27, 2013
SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego State coach Steve Fisher has made three changes to his staff for the 2013-14 season.
Mark Fisher, the 34-year-old son of the head coach, will assume new responsibilities with the program due to being diagnosed with ALS, the school announced Friday. As the assistant to the head coach, Fisher will continue his active role with the team. He has been with the program for 12 years, seven as an assistant.
David Velasquez has been named an assistant coach and Tim Shelton has been hired as the team's director of player of development.
San Diego State is coming off a school-record fourth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament where it advanced past the second round for the second time in three seasons. The Aztecs finished 23-11, their eighth consecutive 20-win season.
