NC State transfer signs with Butler
May 1, 2014
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Former North Carolina State guard Tyler Lewis has signed a financial aid agreement to continue his career at Butler.
Last season, the 5-foot-11 Lewis started 18 games and played in 36, averaging 4.4 points and 3.8 assists on a team that went 22-14 and made the NCAA tournament. Lewis also started two games and played in 34 in his first season in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also was a McDonald's All-American and the 2012 Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year in high school.
Lewis will sit out next season because of the NCAA's transfer rules but will fill the void when Butler's starting point guard Alex Barlow completes his eligibility next season.
Coach Brandon Miller said he likes Lewis' ability to run the offense and take care of the ball.
