Odds Subject to Change

West Virginia finds itself in another pick em road game, the second straight as they were in Norman on Saturday. The Mountaineers lost a close game against Oklahoma, as the line was split at -110. West Virginia started slow, battling back, as oddsmakers expect a similar close battle that favors the home team.

Oklahoma State is coming off a big win on the road, beating Texas Tech in overtime. The Cowboys are dangerous, despite not being able to play in March Madness (for now). This is a tough game to pick, as both teams are a combined 9-10-1 ATS this season - virtually split. The OVER tends to hit more times than not for both teams however, as the point total is 142.5

Betting Analysis – West Virginia Mountaineers

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 8-3
  • ATS: 5-6
  • SU - Home: 7-0
  • SU - Away: 1-3
  • O/U: 6-5

Although West Virginia lost its last game, they looked good in the second half. Still, it's becoming difficult to bet on the Mountaineers away from Morgantown. The team has lost three of four road games, and failed to cover against Iowa State who is currently playing its way into the bottom of the conference.

There are real road concerns with West Virginia, but the second half against Oklahoma does make one wonder how long it will last. Expect West Virginia to break free of their road struggles soon, otherwise they will be in for a long season. Derek Culver must play better, struggling mightily in the first half against Oklahoma.

Culver is the team's leading rebounder, averaging a near double-double per game. Sam McNeil also needs to step up, having a woeful shooting performance in Norman. Expect a much more focused and determined West Virginia team entering Stillwater, but Culver will have to be the difference if West Virginia plans to win.

Betting Analysis – Oklahoma State Cowboys

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 7-2
  • ATS: 4-4-1
  • SU - Home: 3-1
  • SU - Away: 4-1
  • O/U: 5-3-1

The Cowboys rebound the ball very well, which is why Culver's performance is massive for a Mountaineers win. Oklahoma State ranks 46th nationally in rebounds per game and 69th nationally in two-point field goals made. This team can beat you from inside-out, so this game may come down to Culver vs. Isaac Likekele on the glass.

Likekele went off against Texas Tech, but its Cade Cunningham who does all the scoring for this team. Cunningham was held in check against Texas Tech, seeing his points per game average drop below 19. However, Oklahoma State won which shows how dangerous this team can be when others outside of Cunningham and Likekele are scoring points.

The Cowboys have not played well at home this season, and with the split ATS for both teams its difficult to trust either here. That probably explains the even spread. Oklahoma State lost its last home game to TCU before escaping Oral Roberts by five points prior.

It would be nice to see Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe or Keylan Boone step up on the glass for this game, capable rebounders. They are underclassmen however, but it will be fascinating to watch the Culver vs. Likekele battle down low and which role players will step up to track down other loose balls. Ultimately, that's what this game will come down to - possessions.

West Virginia-Oklahoma State Predictions

This is a very difficult game to wager on, regardless of which market you select. West Virginia is the better team, but the road struggles are real. Oklahoma State also struggles at home, so you can see the dilemma here. If you must pick a winner, go with the better roster which is West Virginia, but the point total has more conviction.

Oklahoma State has gone OVER the given 142.5 point total in each of its last four home games this season. Each team needs to eclipse 70 points, which did occur for West Virginia against Oklahoma. Assuming both clubs can touch the 70-point mark, this game should go OVER the point total.

  • Score Prediction: West Virginia 72 Oklahoma State 71
  • Best Bets: OVER
